This maybe biased, I work with professional irons and this is not close, but for some basic pcb repairs it does the job at an incredible price, you need to experiment a little with the temperature but once set its fine. How long it will last ? Note this is a low power iron, great for small pcb jobs but it will not work on heavy gauge cables.

You will most likely need to epoxy or use Kapton tape around the black plastic holding peace or it will knock loose with any real tension.Tips need sanding after use but that's cheap tips fine sandpaper or nail files do the job.The iron heats up within 1min and maintains 480c nicely.All in all a solid and cheep little soldering iron I'll end up replacing in the future but always be keeping as a backup.

I bought this as I needed a soldering iron for a small job soldering some wires together and was pleasantly surprised at how good this little kit is.Not sure if this would be ideal for heavy usage but for the odd job of soldering it's ideal.

Works. The sponge for tip is really anorexic- it’s not going to cost the manufacturer to triple the thickness but it is paper thin as provided.

Seems like value for money. Tested ok to ensure it heats up and melts solder. Not actually used as yet. It’s a good kit with all the necessary bits for small soldering jobs.

****Update****Dropped a star as it came apart where 2 halfs screw together. The plastic thread just gives and then the whole end falls off. Got a refund and the replacement did the same after a couple of uses. However, as it is not necessary to ever unscrew it (it's nothing to do with the tip change assembley) I have superglued it and problem gone. I advise you do the same..**** Update end ****I needed another soldering iron as my lightweight rechargeable one wasn't up to the task of desoldering and resoldering heavy guage wires on a lawnmower battery pack repair.I swapped out the existing tip with a thicker, no tools required. Easy!I turned it on, pressed the power button and the display started counting up the temperature. Amazing speed. It seemed like just seconds and it was ready. Brill.I adjusted temp to max and a couple of seconds later good to go. Yeah!It melted through the massive blob of 15 year old solder with ease, pooling it up so the solder sucker could remove it. WOW!Replaced battery units, Re-tinned joints with supplied solder and then re soldered joints. Easy job.I have since then used it for a couple of other small jobs with the finer tips and all ok.It does feel lightweight and I don't expect it to last as long as some industrial irons I have used in the past, but if I get a couple of years out of it, it will still be a bargain. And would replace with the same.I haven't soldered since studying digital electronics back in the late 80s but now I'm looking for things I can use this on......

This is a really good soldering set, including a variety of accessories.The variable temperature control works well, and is a very useful feature to have.There is a lot here for your money, and little to complain about. Highly recommended.

ideal for fine wire soldering. Pin point tip not large enough for slightly heavier wire. But overall worked well for what I wanted.

Have not used it just yet, But I,ve looked it over and turned it on, Like one of the reviews said before me,It heats up RAPIDLY and cools down well too, It is made well, And the price is Very Good too. 👍🙂 (I will edit this Review after I,ve used it and will either Add or Remove Stars accordingly.)

this is a basic soldering kit which is ideal for simple everyday household fixesprice is good and a good set to get started in soldering

It does what it should but not much advice for beginners. E.g no advice on what temperature is best with the solder wire. So had to resort to independent videos for instruction. There I learned that you need shrink tubing sleeve to cover the exposed metal after you join two wires together. When in place you heat it with a hair dryer so that the plastic shrinks to a tight fit. Some videos mention flux. Not sure about that.
